Introduction on Costa Rica paper

 Costa Rica is a very mix and diversely populated country. Many wonder how so many different groups have settled there over the years. Like any other country origins, it started in 1502 when Christopher Columbus traveled to Costa Rica and colonized it and later it produced many different types of crops. With how many crops were grown had to be transported from city to city. This issue led to the need of a railroad and with the building of the railroad afro-Caribbean people who helped build it were pushed to the coast as part of the travel ban. This push has led the Caribbean side of Costa Rica to have a rich and diverse way of life. Self Assessment

 I fell my blogs do not meet some of the criteria mainly meeting the word count. At first I didn't know that there was a word count but once I read the rubric I tried to to meet the goal. But it is still a little harder for me to meet the goal. The only thing that creates stress for me is trying to meet and exceed the word count. Everything else is alright to understand  and write about. I am putting my best efforts to the assignments and blog post it is just I haven't really done blog post before this class. I do look and go over my blogs before I post but I do not tend to look at it after because I do not want to look at it again after so I can focus on the next thing. I really do not care about others seeing my blog post its just that I do not want to come across as insensitive of any group of people. The only thing I have really learned that I did not know before was that a lot of blogs are posted in a day I think it was around 4 million when I check last and that's pre

Getting to know Costa Rica

  An interesting part about the Costa Rican culture is what they choose to call themselves. The word for men "Tico" and "Tica" for women and comes from how they speak Spanish. They tend to add "Tico" at the end of Spanish words to show affection to one another. Even though the nickname has only been around for 2 centuries it has stuck.   Something else that interested me was the food in Costa Rica. It is a blend of Spanish, African and Native American foods, plus even more. The people from Spain brought food from Spain to Costa Rica and gave the native people different flavors of food. Now Costa Rica's food are very different since the population is varied a lot and the people who move their put a spin on classic foods from Costa Rica.   One of the most popular national forest in Costa Rica is the Monteverde Cloud Forest. The history of Costa Rica

  During his fourth voyage in 1502 Christopher Columbus visited Costa Rica and the Spanish did not conquer it yet. But years later in 1564 the Spanish founded its first settlement thatchy ended up calling it Cartago. Costa Rica did not use Spain's slave labor system and instead the people of Spanish Costa Rica lived on growing tobacco and cacao. After Mexico declared independence from Spain in 1821 Costa Rica joined them in the First Mexican Empire but then that failed but in 1823 they joined and became a member of United Provinces of Central America. 23 years later due to political differences the United Provinces of Central America collapsed leaving Costa Rica independent.  During the 19th century Costa Rica got into some disputes with other nations. later in 1825 after Guanacaste succeeded from Nicaragua and became a Costa Rica territory shortly after. Why you should travel to Colombia!

 Colombia is a country in South America with a humid climate. Depending on when you go there will be different festivals or other things going on. If you decide to got in February or March you could go to the Carnival of Barranquilla which is an even the everyone must see. The city of barranquilla is located on Caribbean coast of Columbia. It is a 4 day event to celebrate their carnival and they blend a lot of different cultures and local traditions in the event. If you are interested in eating some cultural Colombian food than here are some options like coconut rice. Another meal would be fish and it could be cooked in coconut milk or even fried. A place to sight see and get to look at a little bit of history you should go to Clock Tower Monument and it was the original entrance to city. Puerto del Reloj gets its name from the clock that was made in the early 18th century. There are so many thing to do and eat in Colombia that you would just have to experience it for yourself.  Links:

Hey, my name is Kaylah, and I am a freshman in my second semester at GGC. I am originally from Hiram, GA and I moved to Lawrenceville so I could attend college. Sometimes when I need to relax, I like to meditate and listen to calming or slow music. my favorite kind of music is 90's to early 2000's R&B and almost any kind of Hip-Hop. Some of my favorite artist are J. Cole, Keyshia Cole, Notorious B.I.G., JAY-Z, and Kendrick Lamar. Another hobby I have is collecting shoes mostly Nike and Jordan brand shoes. Last time I counted I had about 55 pairs of shoes and I know that is an absurd about of things that go on your feet while you walk. But for me is id sort of like a game and an investment because some shoes are more limited than others so if I could get a limited pair and then sell it, I could get my money back plus more in some cases.
